The collaboration with director, Kathy Hendrickson, began with an idea of creating five large sculptures of white cloth suitable for shadow and projection. We intended to create an open ended landscape for the performers to explore. The elements of sculpture, projection and performance developed together and responded to each other throughout their formation. The resulting artistic endeavor is an illustration of openness, hope and trust in the creative process.

As the scenic sculptures were taking shape, I enjoyed the light and shadow being created in the theater. I began photographing varying angles from inside, above and below the forms as they soared from the stage into the darkness. This developed into a series of sketches which played with abstracting and amplifying these views. From the sketches came finished artworks Making Alice, a patchwork of silk stained with dyes and inks, layered with fluid beeswax medium.
Exhibition Dates: October 26th to November 30th 2018.
I am incredibly thankful to Kathy Hendrickson for inviting me into this creative collaboration. Her creativity and teaching skills along with her enthusiasm and trust in process are an inspiration.
